Net income for the second quarter of 2009 was $25.2 million ($0.69 per diluted share), compared with net income of $32.6 million ($0.89 per diluted share) in the second quarter of 2008.

Teledyne Wins $18.8M DARPA Contract

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - June 5, 2009 - Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY) today announced that its subsidiary, Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, LLC ("TS&I"), was awarded a contract from the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency's (DARPA) Microsystems Technology Office to develop terahertz electronics devices and integrated circuits. Under DARPA's Terahertz Electronics (THz) program, TS&I will pursue revolutionary advances in transistor technology, circuit design and circuit packaging to demonstrate receiver and transmitter blocks operating at frequencies greater than 1.0 THz. The initial Phase 1 contract is valued at $8.3 million over a 24 month period. If all contract Phases proceed, the total contract value would be $18.8 million for work performed through 2014.

Teledyne's new type of infrared imaging sensor in the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument is designed to enable the HST to see further in the Universe, and Teledyne's new electronics chip, the SIDECAR ASIC, is central to the repair of the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS), bringing back on-line the most popular instrument of the HST. Teledyne Wins $6.2M ($52.6M with Options) U.S. Navy Glider Contract

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - March 23, 2009 - Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) announced today that its subsidiary, Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE), of Huntsville, Ala., has been awarded a contract to design, engineer, build, test and deliver ocean Littoral Battlespace Sensing-Gliders (LBS-G), as well as associated support equipment. The contract was awarded by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command on behalf of the Navy's Program Executive Office for C4I. The initial cost plus incentive fee contract is valued at $6.2 million. If all options are exercised, the contract would be valued at an estimated $52.6 million. The initial contract is expected to be completed by July 2010 (November 2014 with options exercised).

Teledyne Technologies Makes Pension Contribution

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - February 13, 2009 - Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) announced today that it has completed an $80 million voluntary cash contribution to the Teledyne Technologies defined benefit pension plan. The pension contribution was funded with cash on hand and borrowings under the company's credit facility. This contribution will result in an after-tax cash outlay of approximately $52 million for the company during 2009 due to the tax deductibility of this contribution. Teledyne made this voluntary contribution in order to increase the funding of the company's defined benefit pension plan.
